WHERE IS PALM BEACH COUNTY'S DISTRICT 6?

The Palm Beach Commission's 6th District is located in southeastern Florida and includes Royal Palm Beach, Loxahatchee Groves, Acreage, Wellington, Westlake, Belle Glade, South Bay, Pahokee, and West Lake Worth. The 6th District includes large swathes of unincorporated Palm Beach County to the northwest of Palm Beach County . The large yellow/green portion of the map above outlines the 1300 square miles of the 6th District. This area includes the number one agricultural area east of the Mississippi River for winter vegatables. 

WHAT DOES A PALM BEACH COUNTY COMMISSIONER DO? 

What does county commissioner do?

The Board of County Commissioners serves as the legislative and policy-setting body for county government; enacts countywide laws and authorizes programs and all expenditures of county funds. They also act as the Solid Waste Authority Governing Board, the Environmental Control Board and the Zoning Board.

Seven commissioners are elected from single-member districts to staggered four-year terms to represent the entire county. Districts 2, 4, and 6 are on the gubernatorial ballot. Districts 1, 3, 5, and 7 are on the Presidential ballot. The Board of County Commissioners generally meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month for public hearings and regular agenda items.
