PALM BEACH COUNTY NATIVE
Born in West Palm Beach, Sara is a second generation Floridian who understands the value of hard work and the complexities surrounding some of Palm Beach County's most pressing social and economic issues.
SMALL BUSINESS OWNER'S MOTIVATION
Sara and her husband opened an automotive repair shop, Foreign Auto Specialists in 2011. From start to finish, the process of opening a small shop in Palm Beach County was difficult. The difficulties started with limited industrial space allowing auto repair shops.
While working on finding a location for their business, Sara confronted difficult planning and zoning requirements for auto repair shops. As their small business grew, and an expansion became the next move, Sara found herself dealing with many of the same issues again, in 2019, when purchasing a building for her business.
Living in the Acreage (unincorporated Palm Beach), she had to work with the Palm Beach County planning, zoning staff, and the commission directly. when adding an accessory structure to her property.
The County can do more to help small businesses and residents via simplifying the planning and zoning processes. Help create jobs and small
Common sense tells us the County can do more to help residents afford to live in
Palm Beach County via:
Lowering Tax Rates & Fees
Reduce Wasteful Spending
A different perspective is greatly needed when it involves avoiding the overdevelopment of our beautiful western communities.
A FORMER PALM BEACH COUNTY SCHOOL TEACHER
After working in healthcare for 10 years, Sara decided she wanted to help the next generation learn about science as it relates to the medical field. As a former middle school science teacher, Sara understands the needs of the future generations of the community, and will work to help build a government that makes decisions with a solid, long-range perspective on medical data.
LIFE LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS
Headlines sometimes desensitize us to issues in the news that have profound effects on families. Drug abuse and immigration are personal to Sara Baxter. She raises her nephew, following the tragic loss of her sister to an overdose. She has also helped her brother in-law through a long and expensive immigration process.
Sara Baxter has a bachelors degree in business administration, started a small business and became a Realtor. Her experiences have helped reinforce her thoughts on the importance of keeping our area beautiful and avoiding overdevelopment.
Overcoming life's challenges, working hard and giving back to the community are the experiences that matter. Sara's life experiences give her the best perspective to represent the citizens of Palm Beach County. We currently have plenty of commissioners with political experience, we need more practical experience.
