Republican Candidate for
Palm Beach County Commission, District 6
Putting My Experience
PALM BEACH COUNTY NATIVE
Born in West Palm Beach, Sara is a second generation Floridian who understands the value of hard work and the complexities surrounding some of Palm Beach County's most pressing social issues.
SMALL BUSINESS OWNER
Sara and her husband opened a small small automotive repair shop in the Royal Palm Beach area. While working on a location for their business, Sara confronted planning and zoning requirements for automotive repair shops. Living in an unincorporated area, she had to work with the Palm Beach County planning, zoning staff, and the
commission directly. As their small business grew, and an expansion became the next move, Sara found herself dealing with many of the same issues again, in 2019, when purchasing a building for her shop.
The continued challenges with the county's zoning process are what sparked Sara's desire to become a county commissioner.
Sara believes the County can do more to help small businesses navigate burdensome planning and zoning regulations.
A FORMER PALM BEACH COUNTY SCHOOL TEACHER
As a former middle school science teacher, Sara understands the needs of the future generations of the community, and will work to help build a government that make decisions with a solid, long-range perspective.
A UNIQUELY PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE ON PRESSING ISSUES
Headlines sometimes desensitize us to issues in the news that have profound effects on families. Drug abuse and immigration are personal to Sara.
She raises her nephew, following the loss of her sister to an overdose, while, at the same time, working to help her nephew's father through the immigration process. Creating programs to address substance abuse and help families is a priority.
Sara has a bachelors degree in business administration and recently became a real estate agent. Her experiences have helped reinforce her thoughts on the importance of public health and safety. Sara is interested in the relationship between unsafe neighborhoods and housing access and affordability, and wants to ensure all neighborhoods enjoy a level of public safety that prevents high vacancy rates or property deterioration.
